Summer fieldwork: Seafloor video surveys in Placentia Bay!

This Summer, MSc students Julia Mackin-McLaughlin and Shreya Nemani are surveying multiple sites within Placentia Bay. Their main objective is to collect video footage of the coastal seafloor, which provides insight into the various ocean bottoms present, as well as what critters live there. From thick algal blankets to boulder fields covered in anemones, there is plenty to see! These videos will play a vital role in building habitat maps delineating and visualizing the dominant species assemblages across the west coast of Placentia Bay.
