New cabled-observatory in Holyrood, NL

Last February the Marine Institute's School of Ocean Technology in collaboration with Ocean Networks Canada deployed a cabled-observatory at 85 m depth, 4Km offshore Holyrood, NL, in Conception Bay. As part of a MEOPAR funded project a SubC underwater camera was deployed had allows for 5min of live seabed videos to be recorded every hour. MSc student Rylan Command is currently analyzing how the benthic community responds to the spring phytoplankton bloom after a cold winter with very little fresh food.
